Marissa Ebert is the Owner | Founder of Alt Yoga and the Co-Founder of Alternative Wellness Therapies.
Marissa is the owner | founder of Alt Yoga, the co-founder | mental health therapist at Alternative Wellness Therapies, and an adjunct professor with Rockford University. Marissa has her Master's of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Registered Yoga Teacher-200 (RYT-200).
Marissa started Alt Yoga on a whim, after hosting the area’s first alternative yoga event. The yoga event blasted heavy metal and included comedy, swearing, laughter, and some unique hand gestures to go with the yoga poses! It was a style of yoga that was needed and has been a local favorite since its start in 2019. Marissa incorporates her clinical knowledge into her style of yoga, offering up a one-of-a-kind experience that will leave you feeling energized and unf*cked.
In 2022, Marissa finally continued her yoga dream by opening up a yoga studio inside of Alternative Wellness Therapies. Not to mention - it's a large studio! She hired amazing BA employee's to run yoga classes and is so grateful for their hard work and dedication. Marissa and her instructors are passionate about spreading the power of yoga.
Marissa has found a niche in combining both yoga and mental health elements into her yoga style and does so in a way that is both educating and entertaining. She has presented at workshops, trainings, fairs, and retreats for various types of professions and participants of all ages. Marissa enjoys presenting and educating others about the clinical evidence between mental health and yoga, and even the power of swearing.
